For decades, we have been providing top quality produce to businesses across Wales and the South West. Over the years we’ve established Castell Howell as one of the country’s leading independent food wholesalers. Here’s the story of how we started and the journey we’ve taken to get where we are today.

Where it all started - farming cows and chickens on our farm in Castell Howell, Trevaughan in West Wales. In 1988, Castell Howell Foods was registered and we began selling our produce to local businesses.

Moved to a new freezer warehouse at Pensarn, near Carmarthen, which was extended in 1993.
Merthyr depot opened.
Our new 60,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Hub and Head Office opened in Cross Hands, near Llanelli.
Blaenau depot opened
Our 50,000 sq. ft. depot extension at our headquarters in Cross Hands is completed, doubling our warehouse capacity to 100,000 sq. ft.
Having outgrown our depot in Chirk, we moved to larger purpose built depot in St Martin’s
To boost our distribution capacity in North West Wales, we moved from our hub in Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.

New Cash & Carry opened in Pensarn.
New depot opened in Avonmouth.
North Wales depot in Chirk became fully operational.
2015Our new 34,000 square feet purpose built butchery is opened and is 3 times the size of the former production unit.
2018We celebrate our 30th Anniversary.
2018An additional 6 loading bays are added to our Cross Hands depot.
