International Women’s Day – Get to Know Our Sales Director Kath Jones

From rural beginnings at the family farm on the outskirts of Carmarthen in the mid 80’s, Castell Howell has grown to become Wales’ largest independent food wholesaler with over 4,500 customers and employing over 600 staff across its wholesale and manufacturing divisions.

Kath first joined the family business as a Telesales Operative, after attending Gelli Aur Agricultural College. She has since worked in almost every department in order to gain experience and understanding right across the business.

Speak to Kath and indeed anyone in the business and you will soon discover the customer is very much front of mind being large enough to cope and still small enough to care with a strong commitment to the community.

For Kath, the key to success is people, whether that be customers, employees, or suppliers. She has great vision and direction, makes great relationships and is very fair this makes her a very strong businessperson.

Kath also supports the YFC (The Wales Federation of Young Farmers Club), which is a voluntary youth organisation operating bilingually throughout rural Wales to support young people aged between 10 and 26 with opportunities to socialise, develop new skills, gain training and help the local community.

As well as supporting and developing the team at Castell Howell, Kathryn has a strong commitment to young people and the business actively engages with schools to create effective partnerships. She strongly believes that helping to nurture their development, will in turn provide confidence for the future.

In speaking at various events across the country, Kath shares her experience and insight into the evolution of Castel Howell what it’s like to be a successful woman in business and how she deals with the highs and lows of a home grown company. Kath has always been passionate about sharing her knowledge with other businesses, organisations and future generations.

Being an integral part of the Castell Howell success story, Kath always goes the extra mile to get the best outcome for the business, its customers, employees and the communities the business operates within.
