Our annual drivers meeting is quite the calendar highlight and sees the Transport team come together to celebrate successes and share in the challenges faced within logistics and the industry.

Led by Martin Jones, Director of Transport Operations, the team discussed the events of the year so far and how the business is continuing to invest in its people and the future.

Acknowledging the hard work of the drivers, Martin said ‘Fortunately, the company has continued to grow since the end of the pandemic and this has allowed us to widen our product range, invest in larger vehicles and secure more local authority contracts. With this naturally comes more drops per run and in many cases larger orders per drop – you haven’t been phased, you work together to continue to deliver the exemplary delivery record and customer service that the company is known for. The longevity of the business is down to our hard working staff and we’re thankful to you all’

During the meeting, Hywel James (pictured below) was congratulated on an exceptional 25 years of service. Hywel has been an important member of the team since 1999 and was commended on his outstanding commitment to our customers on his delivery routes of Lampeter, Llandeilo and Llanelli.

The finale of the meeting was the Awards presentation, in memory of the late Nigel ‘Fridgey’ Bye.  Nigel was one of Castell Howell’s first drivers in 1988 and was with the company until his passing in 2017.

Martin said ‘Nigel was Castell Howell through and through, was key to the business and his legacy lives on through the drivers here that he trained and developed over the years. Choosing our award winners is always an extremely tough job, as all drivers have shown such steely determination and passion in supporting the continued success of the business. We must congratulate our winners and at the same time acknowledge the importance of each and every driver.”
